Our Great Weekend

We had a great weekend. My first shower was Saturday...it turned out great and Ava got some great stuff(pictures to follow soon!). Jarred spent his weekend chasing white bass on the San Jacinto river with his two best buddies...life could not get any better! They caught around 40 and then came home to clean them. Now our garage smells like fish...not a good smell for pregnant mommy! Hope all of you had a great weekend too!

Girls day out

Our local radio station, KSBJ hosted a Girls day out that included guests from Proverbs 31 ministries and Kate Goslin from John & Kate plus 8. Andee and I went(I know...bed rest but I really wanted to go and I am allowed two hours a day!). Wow, what an amazing day. The speakers were amazing and it was fun to see Kate in person. I love watching the show, it sometimes drives me crazy but you just have to watch. One of the speakers, Lysa TerKeurst really inspired me. She was talking about her book "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God". I have told many of you my desire to sponsor a child from Compassion International when KSBJ was talking about it last year. I never did it [;-(] but today nothing was going to stop me. I sponsored a little girl named Getenesh. She is 7 years old and lives in Ethiopia. Please pray for her and her family! Andee sponsored a little boy too...I can't remember his name but I will post info about him when I get it from her.On a side note, my neighbor, Debra is going to Haiti to meet her son Ronel that she is trying to adopt. Please pray for her as she is there and that their meeting goes well!

Update from doctors appointment on Tues....

Sorry I did not update sooner about my visit. Everything still seems to be going well, please continue to pray that Ava will hang out with her mommy for a while longer. My tummy does not measure where it should be so I had another ultrasound. Ava is great, there is plenty of fluid and she weighs right at 3 pounds...You "GROW" girl! (That is her new motto..ha!)
I love getting to take a look at her, those are always my favorite visits! We all think she looks like me, but Jarred really wants her to look like him. I guess we will see. I got the ultrasound tech to measure her little feet, they already measure 2 1/2 inches. Do you think she will even be able to wear newborn shoes? (I can't wait to kiss those big feet!)

Look at those lips....they scream kiss me! Please continue to pray that she stays put!

Our night routine

Jarred laughs every night when I get my CD player out for mine and Ava's night routine. See my sweet neighbors gave me the Baby Mozart CD to play for my baby girl. I am hoping that if I play it each night before bed she will get used to it and know it is bedtime when she hears it once she makes her entrance. Do you think it will work? (Probably not but I can hope)
It is still fun to feel her kick as it plays!

Weekend Fun

Well, it has been awhile since I posted....nothing has really been going on! This weekend Jarred finished painting the baby room (all walls are striped and it looks awesome) and he installed hard word floors. All that is left is the new baseboards he will be installing.

I worked on a little project too! It is a bow
holder for all her little bows and hair clips.
I know she will have a lot with who her Mom
and Mimi are!

They called us on Friday to let us know our furniture is in...yeah! I will be calling to set up delivery. I can't wait to get it all together and show you guys.

We made of first goal of 28 Weeks!

We made our first goal of 28 weeks....what an answer to prayers! The doctor said every two weeks from now on is a milestone, I am praying to make it to at least 34 weeks! I got a gift for reaching my goal....What is better than a cupcake?? (Notice the size-half for me and half for Ava) Please keep praying that she stays put so we can make our next goal(I would love another cupcake)!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my wonderful mom's birthday! Jarred and I escaped the house to join her for dinner. It was great to get out and I got to eat a whole plate of Crab....yummy!! I hope you know how much you are loved Mom. My prayer is that I will be half as good to Ava as you are to me and Ashley!

The start of Miss Ava Grace's room

Jarred started painting the baby room today. The color is called "Honeydew" and goes perfect with her pink, green, and cream bedding! Jarred is going to attempt to stripe one wall tomorrow with a cream color...I will let you know how it turns out. Keep your fingers crossed because this is what I want and he thinks it is not going to work! Thanks Hubby for always trying to please me...I know our princess will love the stripes!

These are the letters I got to spell her name above her dresser/changing table. I am thankful she only has 3 letters in her name...Ha! They will be painted a pale pink by none other than Jarred (Wow, a great Daddy already!)

I am hoping her furniture will be here in 3 to 4 weeks and then I will post a picture of the finished room. I can't wait to get it all done.

Who says you can't catch fish in the winter

This is how Jarred deals with bed rest. He goes fishing in 38 degree weather...I guess all the stress got to him!

Rozzy and Me

Today Jarred and I went to the movies to see Marley and Me. We thought since everyone was back to work it would not be crowded and I could lay down at the top of the theater....I think Jarred was a little embarrassed because I took my pillow! I have been wanting to see this movie so bad because I read the book and loved it. Marley reminded me so much of our Rozzy when we first got him. While reading the book I caught myself laughing quite a bit because it was so Rozzy.
Things that "now" make me laugh:
  • When Rozzy got out of the house and Jarred and I searched and searched for him....with no luck! We were about to give up when we saw the police car coming down the road with the lights on and there Rozzy was running in front! You see, he just wanted to go play at the school where Jarred and him go on their nightly walks. Luckly the police knew were he belonged.
  • The time we went on vacation and my Dad was keeping him and he ate our leather couch! My Dad thought we should probably get rid of him then!
  • He ate a $300 dollar pair of boots.
  • He has went through our front window not once but twice!
  • Jarred left him in the garage one night with an old down comforter to keep him warm(I know...how spoiled). When we got home and put up the garage door feathers went everywhere. Jarred even had to pick feathers out of Rozzy's eyes!
  • He ran through our fence...yes he did that!
  • He loves his sister Sophie and once had to save her life! No dog better get close to her.
I could go on and on but these are the most memorable. It is funny that through all of these adventures our family would not be complete without him. He has been with us through all our highs and lows. He is a constant joy to us! As the book states, " A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his." Well Rozzy you sure have our hearts!
(In case you are wondering about Sophie, she has always been a good dog and never causes any trouble!)

27 Weeks and counting....

I thought I would share some pictures of our family at 27 weeks! I have gained about 12 pounds and my belly seems to be getting bigger everyday. Everything is going good, I am still on bed rest but Ava has moved up a little alleviating some of the pressure on my cervix. The doctor originally set the goal of 28 weeks and I am so relieved to only have less than a week to go. I am praying that I can at least make it to 34 weeks. I had a series of steriod shots this week to help mature her lungs. After the second shot I did not sleep for 24 hours but I am feeling better now! Keep us in your prayers....she needs to stay in the oven and cook for a while longer!

Here is the picture of Ava Grace at about 26 weeks.
Jarred says she looks like him!
She weighs about 2 pounds....you "grow" girl!
We get a big kick out of seeing her.
She has big feet like her Daddy and her Aunt Brooke!

Happy 2009

I have decided to start a blog this year. My neighbor has introduced me to the "blog world" and I enjoy reading so many...I have gotten much inspiration from other ladies! I thought this would be a nice way to keep my friends and family updated on whats going on with my sweet family! 2008 was a little difficult in so many ways for Jarred and I, but then in so many ways it has been amazing. When looking back on our difficult times I can see how God was working in such an awesome way. The verse that stands out and will be my 2008 verse of the year is Romans 8:28...
All things happen for good for those that love the lord....
I hope you all enjoy seeing what 2009 brings for my family. God bless you all in the upcoming year!
A toast to our new family. (Don't worry we toasted with Sparking grape juice!)

As you can see, at midnight I did not get a kiss...little Miss Ava Grace did!
Well, Sophie is not a "party animal"
